Bio

Ilgaz Arikan received his PhD in Business Administration from the Ohio State University with specializations in International Business, Strategic Management and Economics. He is an active researcher whose expertise is in competitive strategy and market mechanisms. His published as well as current work focuses on the choice between IPOs and mergers and acquisitions; factors that influence the choice of market mechanisms, international strategies for selecting market entry modes, exit decisions of entrepreneurs, the nature of talent, and rent creation and rent appropriation in strategic factor markets. He has a BA/BS in Economics, an MBA with specializations in Finance and Marketing, and an MA in Economics and Economic Geography.  He is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Georgia State University, teaching the capstone graduate course the International Strategy in the MBA, MIB and Global Partners programs, and a Ph.D. seminar in International Strategy in the doctoral program. Prior to joining the faculty in 2004, Ilgaz taught at the Boston University in the School of Management. His industry career includes founding and managing two international trading companies, and ongoing consulting relations with start up companies.
